Parenting EducationBetween Two Homes®
We are committed to support adults in raising children between two homes and to offering tools to the professionals assisting these families. Our service providers specialize in working with families dealing with transitions such as separation, divorce, or other family matters involving two homes. Services offered in English and Spanish.
BooksBetween Two Homes: Making Two Homes Work
You may be divorcing, divorced, never married, a grandparent, or other relative of a child growing up between two homes. For whatever reason you find yourself in the situation of helping a child grow up between two homes, you may be wondering how to do so. Between Two Homes has the answers. In this book, you’ll learn how to remain or become coparents (instead of opponents) and how to help your child grow and thrive while living between two homes. Offered in English and Spanish. Between Two Homes helps you: Build a successful coparenting relationship so you can stop fighting and start communicating Recognize obstacles to the coparenting relationship Take advantage of alternatives to litigation—you don’t have to fight it out in court Talk to your child about the changes using language he or she can understand Learn the special needs of your child at various stages, from newborn to teenager Create a coparenting plan Learn what behaviors, and even what words, can help or hurt your child This book is also a helpful resource for mental health professionals and family law professionals. Not only does it provide helpful tools to help families, but it is a valuable text to provide to your clients. “Bradley S. Craig brings practical advice to emotionally driven situations involving one of life’s most precious gifts, children. Between Two Homes is a concise, informative, and well-written guide to help parents learn to effectively coparent. I enthusiastically recommend Between Two Homes and Bradley’s philosophy on how to effectively coparent.” — Lauren Gaydos Duffer, Attorney at Law “A great tool for helping families raise children between their two homes.” — Jennifer Leister, LPC, Author of Meet Max: Learning about Divorce from a Basset Hound’s Perspective “Brad is one of the premier mental-health professionals dealing with families of divorce in the state of Texas. I, as well as the others Brad comes across, always learn something from him.” — Patrick A. Savage, MA, LPC, FAPA, BCPC "Helped our Family be Happy. Bradley Craig is great at giving parents practical and realistic ways to co-parent effectively. As a step-mom it has made me step back and look at issues through the child's point of view. I can definitely say that my entire family has benefited and are living happier lives from learning how to help children live between two homes. Thanks!" "Great Co-Parenting Guide. Between Two Homes is an excellent resource for all parents who have or are divorcing or were never married and are trying to co-parent. No one wants to harm their children, but people do not always know how to handle all of the situations with the children's best interest in mind. This is an easy read with a lot of specific common examples of co-parenting challenges." - By Melinda Eitzen, Attorney at Law "Good Tool for Parents Struggling to Co-Parent Effectively. As a family law attorney I'm constantly looking for quality sources of information and coaching tools for clients. This handbook and the online parenting course is probably the best I've reviewed over the last 8-10 years." J. Shannon Cavers, Attorney at Law "Must read for those with children who are not in a good relationship with the parent of their child. I am a Board Certified Family Law attorney in Texas. If you have children this book is a must read whether you are contemplating divorce, in the middle of a divorce, or recovering from a divorce. The level of conflict in any relationship where children are involved will be reduced even if only one parent modifies their behavior. Better to spend ten dollars on a book and put the information into action than tens of thousands of dollars on an attorney." Diane M. Wanger, Attorney at Law "This book is an excellent resource for parents raising children together, but separately. If you're in the middle of any type of child custody litigation, or have already been through the courts, or just want more information on how to co-parent more effectively, this book is a definite must read. As an investigator for my state and for the family courts for nearly twenty years, I have witnessed first-hand how emotionally and mentally damaged children can become from parents who do not know how to co-parent. Putting your children first, and learning how to get along with the other parent is an absolute must to save your children from the chaos of two feuding parents. Bradley Craig's BETWEEN TWO HOMES will give you the tools you need to make sure you're putting your children first. " Rhonda Hopiks, Author About the Author Bradley Craig is a Licensed Social Worker and Certified Family Life Educator. He is a noted coparenting educator in the North Texas area, and has developed a number of parent-education programs for families who are raising children in two homes. He is currently in private practice and at times contracts with organizations to provide services to families. Brad is a trained family-law mediator and provides family-law mediation training with other organizations. In addition, he offers training for other professionals on how to structure approaches to help children being raised between two homes. He works with families who are raising children between two homes and those with continuing custody/parenting-time issues as a Family Mediator, Collaborative Law Allied Professional, Coparenting Case Manager, Coparenting Coach, Educator, Parenting Facilitator, and Parenting Coordinator. Creators of the eNew Beginnings Program The eNew Beginnings Program (eNBP) is designed to protect children from the mental health problems associated with parental divorce or separation. In a thorough evaluation, the eNBP reduced children’s anxiety, depression, and aggression. Also, it improved parent-child relationships and effective discipline and decreased conflict between ex-partners. The eNBP focuses on parents because they are best able to help their children thrive after divorce. The eNBP is the online version of an internationally recognized in-person program that has shown significant benefits to children up to 15 years after participation. These benefits include reducing substance use and depression and increasing the number of years of education. The program teaches parents how to have more fun with children, listening tools to get their children to share more, effective strategies to decrease children's misbehavior, and tools to protect children from interparental conflict. Parents complete one unit per week over 6 or 10 weeks, which allows them to practice the new skills with their children. To learn more about the eNBP, visit www.divorceandparenting.com . ParentingHow to Nurture Your Child’s Growing Brain
Between the ages of birth and three years, your child’s brain is developing more rapidly than at any other time throughout their lifetime. It’s essential to focus on early developmental skills, as well as provide a firm foundation for learning, during this critical time. Four essential areas to be addressed are language, social skills, math and science, and managing stress. Language skills develop naturally just through talking to your baby and reading to them well before he or she can understand you. Reading to children stimulates connections in the brain that help them absorb and develop better communication skills, spark imagination, build problem-solving skills, enhance creativity, and perform better academically. This also can be encouraged through listening to music, playing rhyming games, and learning a foreign language. Using different tones and facial expressions, as well as rhymes and songs, provide social skill cues and fun ways to introduce key concepts. Toddlers need to be offered frequent mental, physical, and social stimulation, as well as positive praise, encouragement, and firm boundaries during their early development. With these items in place, parents are providing a firm base upon which their children’s future mental, emotional, social, and academic development can grow.

DivorceLaura Bonarrigo
I’ve been there. I know all about divorce because, for most of my life, divorce dictated who I was. My parents divorced when I was 7. The effect of my parents’ divorce was only uncovered when I finally sought support after my first marriage and divorce at 23. Two decades later, after 15 years of marriage to my second husband and the father of my children, the stakes were higher and the decision much harder. Through a lot of soul searching I ultimately knew the best thing for my family was for this second marriage to dissolve. 3 divorces (my parents' and my two marriages) have forced me to learn the hard lessons of forgiveness, understanding & patience. I’m sure there isn’t a single day that goes by when you’re not second guessing yourself, your role or your future. It’s my aim to help educate everyone on how to help those hurting beside us. I’m shamelessly open about my own personal experiences so you know it’s OK to be vulnerable, to admit feeling like crap and to not know what direction the future has for you and your family. doingDivorce™ right means stepping into the unknown with trust, faith and the belief that your future will be great. You have the right to a great life, now go out and create it!

BooksPathways to Amicable Divorce: Directions for the Beginning of Separation
Find out how to avoid divorce pitfalls & increase the likelihood of an amicable divorce. Christina Vinters , J.D., Family Law Mediator and retired Divorce Lawyer, has seen firsthand the many mistakes that even well-meaning people tend to make at the beginning of separation out of fear, anger, jealously and/or lack of information. These mistakes often lead to the undesired path of court proceedings, deteriorating relationships, strained parenting abilities, and escalating legal fees. What is "amicable"? Being amicable does not mean that you give up your legal rights in order to avoid disagreement; it means that you resolve disagreements in a respectful and realistic way rather than battling it out in court, so that you can protect your children, your co-parenting relationship, and your net worth from the trauma of extended divorce litigation. Pathways provides: a look at the culture of divorce & its harmful assumptions; the basics of divorce law and separation agreements; descriptions, pros, and cons of 4 pathways/methods for working towards an amicable resolution; practical information and specific tips on what to do and what not to do if you would like a healthy divorce resolution that will let you to move on with your life; dozens of links to free online resources for additional learning, including videos, worksheets, frequently asked questions, and location-specific services organized by State and Province. Parenting EducationPoint C
POINT C: A 5 MINUTE VIDEO STORY ON CONTENTIOUS DIVORCES FOR PARENTS AND PROFESSIONALS A contested divorce involving custody, parenting time, or other child-related issues is generally supposed to focus on the “best interests of the child.” Ironically, however, sometimes the positions, agendas, and actions of overly contentious parents can render the entire court process itself contrary to a child’s best interests. Unfortunately, the emotions of the parents in litigation sometimes rise to such a high level that the child they are fighting about ends up as the true victim, incurring significant emotional stress which may last for years. In many cases, it is sometimes readily apparent that one or both divorcing parents are, through their own conduct and dysfunctional attitudes towards each other, unintentionally but very substantially hurting their own child on an emotional level. To encourage divorcing parents to think about the consequences of their words and actions on their children, “Point C.” was born. Presented as a five-minute animated story and fable, Point C is designed for viewing and sharing by (A) parents undergoing a contentious divorce involving children, and (B) attorneys, judges, mediators, mental health professionals and others directly or indirectly involved in the family court process as well. Point C has recently featured by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and the Academy of Professional Family Mediators (APFM) on Facebook and LinkedIn and is now featured in OurFamilyWizard.
